President Al-Zubaidi meets the adviser of the United Nations envoy to Yemen
The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, met on Thursday in Aden the capital with Mr. Marwan Ezzat Al-Ali, Adviser to the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffiths.
President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the Transitional Council steps to implement the Riyadh Agreement, stressing on the Council’s seriousness in its implementation, and the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sponsoring the agreement and its field efforts to expedite its implementation.
President Al-Zubaidi stated that the Transitional Council worked to make some concessions to overcome the obstacles presented by the Yemeni government to obstruct the implementation, and the implementation started by withdrawing the military forces from their positions in Abyan, then Shabwa, stressing that this step is followed by the implementation of the rest of the political steps.
For his part, Al-Ali stated that the Riyadh agreement resolved the political obstacle that was the issue of the representation for the south in the negotiations, congratulatiing the Transitional Council on this achievement, whereby it is now a partner not only in negotiating for southern affairs, but also in the administration of the state and its institutions.
Al-Ali pointed out that the United Nations views the Riyadh agreement with great importance and that its success will contribute in preparing and accelerating the entry into peace process and a comprehensive solution, pointing to the importance of implementing the agreement so that the United Nations can build on it in its upcoming efforts.
