Worldwide Welcomes on Riyadh Agreement implementation

UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths has welcomed the Riyadh Agreement development, including the formation of the new government.

In statement, Griffiths congratulated the Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, all parties, and political components that supported this process, expressing his congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“This is an important step to enhance stability, improve state institutions and it is also a pivotal step towards a lasting political solution to the conflict in Yemen,” he said.

Meanwhile, GCC Secretary General and host of Gulf allies too welcomed the formation of the new Yemeni government and the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, signed between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council.

GCC Secretary-General Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf welcomed the decision to form the new Yemeni government from various Yemeni political components, which comes as an implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.
Dr. Al-Hajraf expressed his appreciation for all the efforts of the Yemeni parties aimed at giving priority to the interests of the Yemeni people and preparing the atmosphere for the Yemeni government to practice all its work in Aden.

He also praised the great efforts that the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

He affirmed the GCC’s keenness to restore security and stability in Yemen, and the GCC’s support for the efforts of the United Nations aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and Security Council Resolution 2216.
In Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates welcomed the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, signed by the legitimate Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, and the announced formation of a government of political competencies in Yemen, and hoped that this will be a step on the way to achieving a political solution to end the Yemeni crisis.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation praised the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in implementing the Riyadh Agreement, and its support for everything that serves the interest of the Yemeni people.

In Manama, Bahrain too welcomed the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement by the Yemen government and the STC, describing it as an important step to strengthen and consolidate Yemeni efforts to confront Iranian-backed Houthi militias and achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for peace, security and stability.
In a statement, Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the sincere efforts exerted in this regard by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, for maintaining the security, stability, and prosperity of Yemen.

In Cairo, the Arab Parliament President Adel Bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi welcomed the formation of the new Yemeni political government, headed by Dr. Maeen Abdul Malik, in order to complete the implementation of the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement after the implementation of the military arrangements in the agreement.
In a statement, Al-Asoumi stressed the importance of this pivotal step in restoring security and stability in Yemen, activating state institutions, and creating an atmosphere for the new government to implement development projects in the liberated areas, in a way that benefits the Yemeni people and alleviating their suffering.
Al-Asoumi added that this agreement is an important step towards reaching a comprehensive political settlement of the Yemeni crisis, based on the three references, the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

In Amman, the Jordan government welcomed the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement by the Yemeni government and the STC, in addition to the announcement of the government formation ending military arrangements.
The spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the efforts of all parties, particularly, efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that lead to the implementation of the agreement.

Al-Fayez wished that this step would contribute to reaching a complete settlement that ends the Yemeni crisis, achieves security, stability and peace, and meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people for progress and prosperity.

The European Union, France and the United Kingdom have welcomed the Riyadh Agreement that set up a power-sharing structure between the Southern Transitional Council and the Yemeni government.

The EU said the announcement of a new Yemeni Government as part of the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement is a positive step toward a comprehensive political solution for the country, an EU spokesperson said on Saturday.

“The European Union appreciates the facilitation efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and encourages all actors to ensure a swift and complete implementation of all provisions of the Riyadh Agreement,” Nabila Massrali, the spokesperson for the European Union External Action Service said.

Saudi Arabia brokered the deal between the deadlocked Yemeni factions, paving the way for a new 24-member government, which was formed in Yemen on Friday, according to a state television report.

“The European Union is committed to the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen, and will continue supporting efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the spokesperson added.

France on Saturday also welcomed the Riyadh Agreement and the new government, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The French foreign ministry said that this important step would contribute to preserving Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, SPA said.

For his part, UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Saturday hailed Saudi Arabian efforts in forming a new Yemeni government.

“Thanks to Saudi efforts, today a new Yemeni government was announced. This is an important step towards implementing the Riyadh Agreement between the Government of Yemen and Southern Transitional Council and takes us one step closer to the peace that Yemenis urgently need,” Raab said via Twitter.

Saudi Arabia welcomed the government formation in Yemen, according to a foreign ministry statement. The Saudi foreign ministry statement said the latest developments represented an “important step toward ending the Yemeni crisis.”
