Director of Transitional Council Foreign Office in Canada discusses with researcher Thomas Janet of Ottawa University developments of Riyadh Agreement

The Director of the Office of the General Administration of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council in Canada, Abdul Karim Ahmed Saeed, met with the author and academic researcher at the University of Ottawa, and the interested in Yemen and the region affairs, Professor Thomas Janet.

Saeed discussed with Professor Janet the developments on the Yemeni and southern arena in particular, and the importance of implementing the Riyadh Agreement, and in this regard, Saeed affirmed the Southern Transitional Council’s keenness to implement all the terms of the agreement and what resulted from it, such as forming a parity government between the north and south, and to be supported to do its duties towards our people to alleviate their suffering in various aspects and improving the lives of citizens.

Saeed pointed out that the Southern Transitional Council made major concessions in this regard in order to reach this agreement and to form the government, and to create the atmosphere for the international envoy Martin Griffiths to do his efforts for a comprehensive political settlement to solve the crisis and bring peace to the south, Yemen and the region in general.

The meeting touched on the importance of the visit of the delegation of the Southern Transitional Council, led by President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Council, to Moscow at an official invitation from the Russian leadership, in order to mobilize backing and international support for the issue of the South as a cause of people and homeland for which the southerners have sacrificed martyrs and wounded since 1994.

For his part, Professor Thomas Janet stressed the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means and dialogue, not resorting to violence and force, and working hard to stop the war and benefit from the new American position under the leadership of President Joe Biden, who seeks to stop the war.

The meeting also discussed a number of common issues and work to develop the relationship between the Office of the General Administration of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council in Canada and the University of Ottawa to carry out some cultural and political activities and events organized by the university.
