Expert of Central Bank of Yemen pays visit to headquarters of the National Bank of Yemen in Aden

Within the framework of the support provided by USAID, the Banking Supervision Sector of the Central Bank of Yemen organized a visit to the headquarters of the National Bank of Yemen in Aden, which was chosen as a model as one of the oldest and most important commercial banks operating in Yemen.

The visiting team consist of the Canadian expert, Mr. Pierre Sajain, and the resident expert of Bragma corp, Raed Daqqah,in which they held a meeting with Dr. Ahmed bin Sonkar, the General Manager of the National Bank of Yemen, and a number of the bank officials and cadres in Aden.

In the meeting, the Canadian expert touched on the urgent need for the Central Bank of Yemen to strengthen supervision, banking supervision and control, including combating money laundering and terrorist financing (AML / CFT).

The expert indicated that his interest is focused on assisting the banking supervision sector in the Central Bank of Aden by developing and updating the necessary tools for effective control, auditing and risk management in a way that could ultimately facilitate proper supervisory supervision of the entire banking sector in the country.

For his part, expert Raed Daqqah said: “The work with the banking supervision sector is done through in-depth analysis of the requirements for establishing banking supervision and developing its capabilities to ensure effective control over the banking system, in order to enable it to raise the efficiency and capabilities of the banking sector to keep pace with developments in the financial system at the regional and global level “.

The meeting was attended by Ali Ba’eshen, Director General of Banking Supervision, and his technical team.
