SMA NEWS – Riyadh

The Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, received on Monday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Dr. Djeyhoun Ostowar, Deputy Head of the Dutch Mission to Yemen.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khobaji welcomed Mr. Ostowar, praising the constructive roles played by the Kingdom of the Netherlands through its membership in the European Union, which is one of the most important international blocs active in resolving crisis and bringing peace to the South, Yemen and the region.

In the meeting, Al-Khobaji reviewed the progress made in the consultations to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, noting that the joint efforts under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia culminated in success and agreeing on the return of the government and ensuring its security, and moving forward with the consultations to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

Dr. Al-Khobaji stressed that the tireless efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its wise leadership in this regard had a major role in the success of this consensus, which received worldwide international blessing, by the sponsors of the political process.

Al-Khobaji stressed that these efforts, in their entirety, were in line with the repeated calls of the Southern Transitional Council since early date regarding the return of the Prime Minister and the government to the capital, Aden, and carrying out their duties towards citizens in accordance with the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, especially after it left the capital, Aden, without justification, which lead to tragic repercussions on the economic and service conditions that have doubled the suffering of the citizens, in light of a political and military battle that requires unity and unification of efforts to confront the Iranian Houthi expansion and support the efforts of the Arab coalition.

The Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit pointed out that after the issue of the return of the government and its security is resolved, next will be the move into discussions to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, foremost of which is the formation of the joint negotiating delegation to achieve the presence and representation of the people of the South and their national issue on the table of the comprehensive political process.

For his part, the Deputy Head of the Dutch Mission, Dr. Djeyhoun Ostowar, affirmed his country’s support for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to complete the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, and to form a joint negotiating delegation, and prepare to get into a comprehensive political process that accommodates all issues and active forces on the ground, leading to peace and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Nasser Huwaider, member of the Transitional Council’s delegation to implement the Riyadh Agreement, and Anis Al-Sharafi, member and rapporteur of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, and Fathi Al-Muflihi, member of the negotiating delegation to implement the Riyadh Agreement.
