Department of Human Rights of the Southern Transitional Council Files a Memorandum to UN Supreme Commission of Human Rights about Violations

[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Geneva – Follow-ups [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Neeran Hasan Sawky, chairman of human rights department of the southern transitional council, filed a written memorandum to UN Supreme Commission of Human Rights on Monday about severe violations committed by Yemeni presidential guards’ forces against civilians in Adan during the period of January 28th to 30th, 2018 as these violations jeopardized people’s lives and endangered security and stability of the city. Abd Al-Rahman Al-Musaibaly, representative of human rights department, delivered the memorandum to Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Nusour, chairman of Middle East and North Africa department of the commission. The memorandum indicated the use of over power from governmental forces against civilians through using live bullets while citizens were peacefully demonstrating against the corruption of the government. In addition, the memorandum explained how these violations jeopardized people’s lives and endangered security and stability of the city through bombing residential districts, forceful arrest of citizens and assaults against ambulances and journalists, leading to tens of killings and injuries, including children. Neeran Sawky demanded the commission to open an investigation in these violations and applying rules of the international law concerning bringing justice to victims and not allowing aggressors to escape punishment. On the other hand, Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Nusour expressed his concern with the memorandum indicating that the commission intends to send a delegate of experts to visit Adan and see for these violations soon. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdullah Abouda, member of the Southern Counselling Center for Rights and Freedoms.
