Yemen Govt: Iranian Expert Killed in Marib Air Strike

SMA NEWS – MARIB

The legitimate Yemeni government on Saturday announced the killing of an Iranian expert and nine of his companions in an air strike by the Saudi-led Arab coalition on Tehran-backed Houthi militias positions in the eastern province of Marib.

Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani confirmed the strike in a tweet, identifying the Iranian as Haidar Serhan.

He said the strike took place on the Sirwah front in western Marib.

These losses underscore the extent of Iran’s involvement and destabilizing role in the country, he added.

Serhan, he continued, was involved in training militia members. He was an expert in fighting tactics and had operated on the west coast until June 5 when he was transferred to the battles in Marib.

The minister added that Iran’s dispatching of hundreds of Revolutionary Guards experts and field commanders and smuggling of various weapons, including ballistic missiles and drones, demonstrates the significance of the battles.

The fighting is an extension of Iran’s expansionist agenda in the region, warned Eryani.

He called on the international community, United Nations and permanent members of the UN Security Council to take firm stances against Iran’s flagrant meddling in Yemeni affairs and its role in escalating military operations, undermining peace efforts and prolonging the humanitarian suffering of the people.
