Presidency of Southern Transitional Council warns against systematic change of demographic structure in Abyan Delta

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, today, Monday, held its periodic meeting, in the capital, Aden, headed by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Council.

In its meeting, the Presidency warned of the danger of the systematic change of demographic composition of society in the districts of Abyan Delta, requesting on the local authority in Abyan governorate to put an end to the systematic change process, that is going on, in the demographics of the delta districts, through the ownership and sale of vast areas of the delta lands to the displaced in an effort to resettle them.

In another matter, the Presidency of the Council praised the popular action and the active community participation of the people of Shabwa in confronting the Houthi expansion project and standing in the face of the hegemonic projects that are desperately trying to control the governorate and its resources.

In this context, the Presidency condemned the methods of repression, intimidation and arrests implemented by the security forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood in the governorate, the latest of which was the raid on the sit-in squares in the districts of Rudhum and Al-Rawda, and firing live bullets at unarmed protesters on Sunday.

In a separate context, the Presidency of the Transitional Council praised the efforts made by the South-South Dialogue Committee in all issues on its agenda, praising the step of expanding the dialogue team, which included prominent southern figures in Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, Britain, and Canada.
