Southern Group Meets UN Supreme Commission of Human Rights in Geneva
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Geneva – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] On Friday March 9th, 2018, the southern group met Kiyoko Hasegawa, commissioner of Yemeni file in the Middle East and North Africa Bureau of the UN Supreme Commission of Human Rights on Geneva. The meeting was very positive and discussed several issues concerning human rights in the south and in Yemen in general. The group provided Mr. Hasegawa with details about the poor living conditions in the south including poor services and lack of simplest basics of life asserting that the corrupt legitimacy government of Yemen failed to fulfill its duties towards citizens in the southern governorates for unknown reasons. The group requested that the commission may activate its role in Adan and to train NGOs and security forces about human rights in addition to supporting security belt forces and elites’ forces as they are the first defense line against terrorism and being weak will only benefit terrorists. The group requested that the commission may open an office in Adan and to works with NGOs as the commission should exist on the ground. The group also asked the commission not to listen to politically-directed channels that deliberately falsify reports about conditions in the south.
