[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Adan – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Secretary General of the Southern Transitional Council, Ahmed Lamlas, asserted that the south is close to restore his lost rights through approaching the negotiation table fostered by UN. He added that the south today is not the same south of 1967, 1986 or even 1994 as it became more mature to understand the current stage. Statements of Lamlas came along a discussion workshop held by Adan Center for Observation, Studies and Training on Thursday April 26th, 2018 and fostered by the political department of the southern transitional council. The workshop held the title of “The South … War and Occupation Legacy and Challenges for Building and Restoring the State”. The workshop was held on the 24th anniversary of 1994 war. Ahmed Lamlas indicated that the south needs the efforts of his elites to unify their opinion about their basic cause adding that variance exists, but the goal should be unified. He also indicated that the southern transitional council supports the southern unity where no party can exclude the others, confirming that the council is open to all opinions that agree with the its general objective and main guidelines.
Kassem Daoud, chairman of the center indicated that the south suffered from marginalization, exclusion and unjust for decades as a result of the tragedy of 1994 war, and such things can never be dismissed when we talk about solutions and ways for treating the war consequences. He also added that the south should benefit from UN and its delegate to Yemen in their reference to the southern cause as part of the political solution. Therefore, southern elites should unify their voices to block the road in front of anyone who wants to trade the cause.
Attendants representing NGOs, military retirees and human rights activists, discussed a working paper presented by colonel Dr. Abd Rabu Mohamed Omar Al-Mahramy under the title of “Past, Present and Future of the Army and Security Systems in the South”, another paper presented by Dr. Saudi Ali Obaid titled “General Trends Towards Approaching Economic Problems of the Restored Southern State” and a third paper presented by Dr. Saleh Taher Said titled by “War and Peace Choices in the Yemeni Case and Reestablishing Political Solution Paths”. The workshop witnessed several questions and notes by attendants.
