NSMA’s Head Meets with Political Team of UN Special Envoy Office in the Capital, Aden
SMA – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), on Monday, met with the political team of the Office of the UN Special Envoy in the capital, Aden, headed by Mr. Brett Scott.
In the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of concern to the peace process, including the cause of the people of the South as a pivotal and major cause in the comprehensive peace process.
In this respect, Mr. Al-Awlaqi highlighted that the cause of the people of the South has moved from the square of grievances to the stage of political entitlement, and the STC has become a major part of the political equation, indicating that any procrastination or postponement of the cause of the people of the South and a lack of interest in setting the special negotiating framework for this pivotal cause in the peace process will enhance neither peace nor stability endeavors.
Al-Awlaqi referred to the results of the southern national dialogue teams, the outcomes of the first southern consultative meeting, and the continuation of the dialogue teams both at home and abroad for the dialogue process during the upcoming period.
He added: The STC supports the endeavors of the office of the UN special envoy in the capital, Aden, to carry out its tasks, communicate, coordinate, and exchange views.
For his part, Mr. Scott confirmed that the office of the UN special envoy in the capital, Aden, is communicating with all political parties, including the STC, to resolve many of the issues raised.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, deputy head of NSMA, Najeeb Moqbel, Rapporteur of NSMA, Hadeel Samir and Tamanna Obaid, members of the political team of the UN special envoy office in the capital, Aden.
