Al-Sharafi discusses with the office of UN envoy arrangements for comprehensive political process

The Deputy Head of the General Department of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council, Anis Al-Sharafi, on Monday,met with Mr. Edward Jackson, Director of the Office of the UN Envoy in the capital, Aden, and the team of the political department in Aden office.
At the outset of the meeting, Al-Sharafi offered condolences to all the international humanitarian and political teams working in Yemen for the loss of Mr. Muayad Hamidi, the official of the World Food Program in Taiz, who got murdered following a treacherous terrorist operation.
Al-Sharafi said, as a result of this cowardly terrorist act, we lost one of the pillars of humanitarian work in the United Nations, which has influential fingerprints in the service of humanity in Yemen and many other countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the arrangements for the comprehensive political process and the efforts led by the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Hans Grundberg, to reach a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, and related issues, arrangements and mechanisms, at the forefront of which is the issue of the people of the south and the mechanisms for resolving it through the comprehensive political process.
In this regard, Al-Sharafi stressed that the issue of the people of the south represents a fundamental pillar for ending the crisis and bringing peace to the region, and that this comes through approving and setting up a special negotiating framework for the issue of the people of the south, within the framework of the ceasefire agreement.
During the meeting, Al-Sharafi also reviewed the deteriorating economic and service conditions in the capital, Aden, and the southern governorates, calling on the international community to play its role and deal firmly to stop the Houthi terrorist militia attacks, mobilization operations, and the continuous targeting of economic facilities and civilian objects in the south.
