The Minister of Transport discusses with Chairman of Chamber of Commerce in Aden status of commercial and maritime traffic in Aden port

The Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdulsalam Saleh Humaid, on Monday, held a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Aden the capital, with Mr. Abu Bakr Baobaid, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital, Aden.

The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the conditions of commercial and navigational traffic in the port of Aden and the difficulties facing merchants and importers, in addition to solutions to solve them.

The Minister of Transport stressed the importance of enhancing aspects of joint cooperation between the government and the private sector in the field of reviving commercial and economic movement through the port of Aden, stressing that the ministry provides all necessary facilities for the movement of ships through the ports of the liberated areas, especially the port of Aden within the framework of the facilities granted by the government to revive commercial movement and insuranceو of ships and the readiness of ports to receive the ships directly to the port of Aden in support of commercial and navigational activity in the country.

Dr. Abdulsalam Humaid explained the relentless endeavors made by the Ministry of Transport to reduce the cost of insurance on ships coming to the liberated ports, stressing the imminent signing of an agreement to reduce the cost of risk insurance on ships with international insurance companies and the United Nations, which he said will contribute to reducing the cost of marine insurance, in implementation of the decision Cabinet No. (4) of 2023 regarding reducing insurance fees on commercial ships in the ports of the liberated areas.

On the other hand, the Minister of Transport stressed the need for companies and shipping agencies to import all goods and oil derivatives through the liberated ports, especially after the facilities provided to major importers and shipping lines according to the directives to do so for all ports.

For his part, Mr. Abu Bakr Baobaid, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, expressed appreciation for all the efforts made by the leadership of the Ministry of Transport to address the conditions of the port of Aden and solve the problems facing merchants, pointing to the necessity and importance of implementing the decision of reducing insurance fees for the entry of goods to the ports of Aden and keenness to stimulate and encourage the commercial sector for its importance in serving citizen and community.
