President Al-Zubaidi Pays Visit to Inspect Progress of Construction at Wadi Hassan Dam

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), paid a visit on Saturday to inspect the progress of construction work in the first phase of the Wadi (Valley) Hassan Dam in Abyan Governorate, which is being implemented with funding from the United Arab Emirates through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by the engineers and consultants supervising the project on the work that has been accomplished within the framework of the first phase of the dam, which included embankments, cement barriers, and paving the 7.5-kilometer road leading to the dam, in addition to the remaining construction work to complete this phase and its stated time period.

President Al-Zubaidi expressed his satisfaction with the high pace of completion of the first phase of this strategic project, which will irrigate a wide spread of agricultural lands and benefit the people of Abyan in the first place, the South, and the entire region in general. In addition to boosting the development and reducing the much-needed food baskets, articulating his immense gratitude to whoever positively contributed to this giant project, led by the brothers in the United Arab Emirates, represented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the teamwork of engineers and consultants on the ground.

The President was accompanied on his visit by members of the Presidium of the STC: Major General Kamal Hamshari, office head of the President of the STC, Major General Ali Nasser Lakhsha’a, Mr. Abdul-Nasser Al-Ja’ari, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqtari, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, and Mr. Emad Mohammed, Office Head of the Vice President of the PLC.
