At the Global Refugee Forum.. The Governor of Aden calls for combating migrant smuggling gangs

Ahmed Lamlas, Governor of the capital, Aden, in his speech on Thursday, at the Global Refugee Forum, in Geneva, Switzerland, called for holding a regional conference under international supervision to develop a comprehensive action plan to address the illegal immigration crisis.
During the speech, he revealed that more than 93,000 arrivals had been registered through mixed migration, in addition to those who are still not registered due to the coastal line, stressing that the country is suffering from a displacement crisis in light of a long-term humanitarian catastrophe, due to the war imposed by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
He called for combating smuggling and human trafficking gangs, in light of the burdens that illegal immigration represents on the shoulders of the local authority and the government, in addition to the lack and limited resources, stressing the importance of sharing the burdens.
He called on the international community to fulfill its obligations and support host countries in accordance with the principle of justice and inclusiveness, stressing in the context our country’s commitment to its obligations and implementing strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change by investing in sustainable infrastructure and responding to climate-related disasters.
At the end of his speech, he called for declaring an immediate and permanent ceasefire and addressing the Palestinian issue in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative.
