Opening of the Late Salmin Stadium after its rehabilitation in Socotra

Mr. Raafat Al-Thaqli, Governor of Socotra, on Sunday, opened the late Saad Ali Salmeen Stadium after its rehabilitation and complete renewal of the artificial turf, with generous support from the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work.
The opening coincided with the launch of the Bambarak Youth Football Championship with the participation of 29 sports clubs from the archipelago, with a match that brought together the Al-Tali’ah and Al-Meitaq clubs from the first group of the tournament.
Governor Al-Thaqali appreciated the generous support of the United Arab Emirates to the sports sector in Socotra, praising the keenness of its humanitarian arms to develop sports activities and facilities to achieve the aspirations of youth and athletes in the governorate.
He said that the sports edifice is an addition to the sports sector in the Socotra Archipelago, calling for preserving the facility and making good use of it to develop the talents of players in the clubs.
In his speech, Al-Thaqali praised the efforts of Khalfan Al-Mazrouei, representative of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work, for his role in quickly completing model projects in the archipelago and enhancing the infrastructure of the sports sector.
The opening match of the tournament ended with Al-Tali’a Club winning by five goals to two goals for Al-Meitaq.
