THE UN SPECIAL ENVOY FOR YEMEN HOLDS MEETINGS IN MOSCOW

The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded a visit to Moscow today, where he engaged in discussions with senior Russian officials. During his visit, Grundberg met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov.
The Special Envoy briefed on recent efforts to support the parties in reaching an agreement on a roadmap to operationalize their commitments to a ceasefire, measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, and the resumption of an inclusive political process under UN auspices. The discussions explored recent developments in Yemen and the region and their impact on the progress of peace efforts.
Grundberg stressed his appreciation for the unity of the Security Council in support of peace efforts in Yemen. He further highlighted the importance of sustained, concerted backing by the international community to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Yemeni crisis.
