Al-Socotri follows up on the recovery of sunken ships in the fishing port in Aden the capital

Salem Al-Socotri, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, inspected on Monday, the progress of the recovery of sunken ships in the fishing port in the capital, Aden.

Al-Socotri followed up with the Chairman of the Gulf of Aden Fisheries Authority, Dr. Abdul Salam Ahmed, and the company contracted to recover the ships, the plans to recover the sunken ships in the port with a total of 22 ships, more than 40% of which have been recovered.

The efforts come in conjunction with the start of the project to rehabilitate and develop the fishing port, through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with funding from the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development through the German Development Bank.

Minister Al-Socotri said that the fishing port is one of the most important promising economic sectors that has great potential and profitable and diverse investment opportunities, starting from fishing, through manufacturing, preparation and supplying local markets with fish at reasonable prices.

He directed the rapid recovery of sunken ships that cause environmental impact and adherence to technical specifications and requirements to serve sustainable development.
