President Al-Zubaidi: Peace remains elusive in the region while Houthis continue their terrorism on both land and at sea

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), has met at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, the Charge d’affaires of the Russian Federation to Yemen, Dr. Evgeny Kudrov.

During the meeting, the latest developments relating to the regional and international efforts to cease the war and bring about peace in the country were reviewed. In this context, President Al-Zubaidi has reiterated that the UN-led efforts and the regional and international communities cannot yield peace while the Houthis continue their terrorism against innocent civilians in areas under their control, along with their attacks on villages located on the battlefield frontlines and their unprovoked attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.

The meeting also discussed the recent developments in the humanitarian and economic situation in the country and ways to bolster regional and international efforts to support the PLC and the government in confronting the worsening economic crisis and mitigating its impact on citizens.

In a separate context, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed by the Acting Russian Ambassador on the procedures completed by the Russian Embassy to reopen its offices in the capital, Aden. In this regard, the President reiterated his welcome of the Russian Federation’s decision to reopen its embassy in the capital, Aden, affirming the readiness of the STC to provide all required facilities to the embassy staff to ensure that they perform their duties in the best possible way.

For his part, the Charge d’affaires of the Russian Federation reaffirmed his country’s position in backing the PLC and the internationally recognized government, reiterating the Russian Federation’s commitment to supporting regional and international efforts to bring about peace to the country and the region.
