STC representative to European Union discusses situation in the south with a number of parliamentarians

Jalal Obaidi, the representative of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Brussels, held discussions with a number of parliamentarians over two days in the corridors of the European Parliament on the economic and service conditions in the south.
During the meetings, Obaidi reviewed the ongoing challenges resulting from the lack of electricity, sanitation, and essential services in general, including the state of poverty and the failure to pay salaries to employees for many months. The meetings resulted in outcomes, the most important of which was that parliamentarians submit a proposal to the Human Rights Committee (DROI) to discuss the health crisis in the south.
The STC representative to the European Union also met with Mr. Dick Roche, the former Irish Minister for European Affairs, who agreed to help build political consensus to support humanitarian efforts in the south.
