The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) Enhances Water Resources in Aden the capital

SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) is offering sustainable development projects and initiatives to contribute to improving infrastructure and basic services in Yemen. This is achieved through its support for eight essential and vital sectors, including the water sector. Development projects and initiatives have contributed to improving water resource management, diversifying water sources, and increasing the efficiency of water distribution in urban and rural areas.

The Al-Manasra Water Field Rehabilitation Project in Aden Governorate is one of the projects implemented by the program to enhance water availability in Aden Governorate and address water shortages. The project involves rehabilitating 10 wells supported by solar-powered pumps fed by 1,350 solar panels over an area of 6,540 square meters. This will increase production efficiency in the field and increase fresh and safe water sources, ensure sustainability, and facilitate access to them.

In its water sector projects, the program combines the use of modern technologies, the application of best development practices, and considerations of environmental sustainability, as is the case with advocacy. This is achieved by relying on renewable energy systems to operate water pumps as needed. This strategy contributes to reducing operating costs and improving water resource management.

The program implements training programs accompanying its water sector projects to empower community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage water resources effectively. It also trains them in the use of solar energy technologies and builds their capacity in this field.

The program’s water sector projects are among 264 projects and initiatives supporting eight essential and vital sectors: education, health, transportation, energy, water, agriculture, fisheries, development programs, and government capacity building and support, across various Yemeni governorates.
