Resuming Yemeni Onion Exports to Saudi Arabia After Temporary Halt

SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Yemen recently resumed onion exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following a weeks-long hiatus due to technical and regulatory measures related to product quality and compliance with Saudi standards.
An agricultural sector source told Aden Al-Ghad newspaper that exports have gradually resumed, following coordination with relevant authorities and the implementation of Saudi requirements, particularly regarding sorting, packaging, and plant inspection certificates.
Yemeni onions are an important agricultural crop that enjoys high demand in Gulf markets, particularly in Saudi Arabia, which represents one of the most prominent foreign markets for Yemeni crops.
The source confirmed that this step will contribute to revitalizing agricultural exports and supporting farmers, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions the country is experiencing. He noted that official authorities are making efforts to expand exports and improve the quality of agricultural products to meet the demands of foreign markets.
