UN: We have received funding for the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan exceeding $36 million

SMA NEWS – NEW YORK
The United Nations revealed that it received additional funding from donors exceeding $36 million during the month of April, in support of the 2025 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan. This comes amid a funding gap that remains large and threatens to hinder relief efforts.

According to recent data issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the total funding allocated to the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan as of May 1 has risen to $208.2 million, compared to $172.1 million recorded in early April, reflecting an increase of $36.1 million.

During the same period, total humanitarian funding for Yemen, both within and outside the response plan, increased by $37.7 million, from $196.5 million to $234.2 million. Support provided outside the plan increased slightly by $1.6 million to $26 million.

OCHA reported that the main contributors to additional funding in April included the European Commission, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Sweden, and Canada, along with several other donors.

Data indicates that despite this relative progress, funding received so far covers only 8.4% of the total $2.48 billion required. This reflects a significant gap of $2.27 billion that continues to hinder the implementation of the response plan, which aims to assist approximately 10.5 million people in Yemen this year.
