Al-Kathiri stresses the importance of the judiciary’s role in combating financial and administrative corruption and protecting rights.

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council and Speaker of the National Assembly, met on Monday, with Judge Dr. Sami Baabad, President of the Public Funds Court, and Judge Yahya Al-Saeedi, President of the Specialized Criminal Court in the capital, Aden.

During the meeting, which was attended by members of the Transitional Council’s Advisory Council, Engineer Abdulrahman Ali Yahya, President of the Southern Union for Integrity, Transparency, and Anti-Corruption, and Dr. Mahdar Al-Shabhi, Advisor to the Union, Al-Kathiri was briefed on the progress of work in the Public Funds Court and the Specialized Criminal Court, and the recent achievements in adjudicating numerous governmental, commercial, and corruption cases. He also reviewed the progress of numerous citizen cases pending before the courts and primary prosecution offices, ensuring their swift adjudication and follow-up, and working to overcome obstacles to resolve them in accordance with the law.

Al-Kathiri praised the efforts of the Public Funds Court and the Specialized Criminal Court to achieve justice, as well as their judicial role in combating financial and administrative corruption, protecting citizens’ rights, and strengthening the rule of law. He also commended the significant role played by the Public Funds Court and the legal measures taken in the case of antiquities looted from our country to foreign countries, obligating the Antiquities Authority to provide evidence and issue a ruling proving their ownership and repatriating them to the country.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Acting Chairman of the Council affirmed the STC’s support for the efforts made by the judicial authorities to enforce the law and strengthen the authority of the state.
