“Temporary Halt” of Military Operations in Al-Hodeida
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Anwar Gergash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the Arab Coalition temporarily halted its operations in Al-Hodeida parameter. On his official account on tweeter, Gergash said: “This decision to provide UN envoy Martin Griffith with sufficient time to reach unconditioned retreat of Al-Houthis from the city and the port, hoping that he may succeed in his mission”.
“We will continue our pressure over Al-Houthis near Al-Hodeida and wait for outcomes of UN envoy to Sanaa, as there is still a chance to reach a solution through unconditioned withdrawal of Al-Houthis from Al-Hodeida”.
Gergash asserted that in case diplomacy fails, military pressure will liberate Al-Hodeida and force Al-Houthis to serious negotiations.
During their meeting in Aden, Yemeni president Abd Rabu Mansour Hady told UN envoy that Al-Houthis should retreat from Al-Hodeida city and not only the port in addition to deploying troops of ministry of internal affairs to secure the city as an application of Un decision no. 2216 that included withdrawal and delivering weapons.
