Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council Meets Deputy UN Secretary General
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] General Ahmed Said Ben Brik, chairman of the national assembly of the southern transitional council, received at the council’s headquarters, Mr. Peter Dranyen, deputy UN secretary general for security and safety affairs, who headed the UN mission to Aden. The mission included Masha Geoffrey, assistant of Deputy UN secretary General for Security Affairs, Jahas Kikoub of UN Security and Safety Office (UNSECOORD) and number of specialists.
Fadl Al-Gaady, acting secretary general of the council and Dr. Abd Al-Nasser Al-Waly, chairman of local leadership of Aden attended the meeting. Ben Brik welcomed UN mission and expressed the council’s willingness to to facilitate the mission’s work in Aden and protect all its activities and personnel all over the south.
Ben Brik asserted the importance of achieving the highest security measures to enable UN bodies to function normally. The council’s leaders asserted that there is no real existence of terrorism in the south as what is seen of its aspects is supported by political bodies and local and regional powers from outside the south.
Leaders also asserted that the council with all its will and capabilities, is a true partner for the region and international society in fighting terrorism. They also indicated that the council is very attentive to guarantee that humanitarian aids will reach citizens in the south and north through airports and seaports in the southern liberated territories unconditionally.
The meeting discussed economic and humanitarian conditions of the liberated governorates and what the southern people suffers from the oppression, humiliation and corruption of the government in addition to other suspicious parties supported by northern tribal military powers just to impose solutions that deny the southern people their rights, including the right of restoring the southern state.
On the other hand, Mr. Dranyen and his accompanying mission expressed their pleasure of the meeting that clearly expressed the the council’s care for securing the activities of UN offices and overcoming all challenges and difficulties through coordination with concerned bodies. They asserted that UN offices will continue work and assume their responsibilities.
Kamal Jawad, director of the council’s president office and other southern military and security commanders attended the meeting.
