Destruction of Houthi missiles prepared to target navigation in the Gulf of Aden

US Central Command carried out air strikes against anti-ship missiles of the Houthi militia that were to target the Gulf of Aden.
The US Central Command said in a statement: “As part of ongoing efforts to protect freedom of navigation and prevent attacks on naval vessels, on January 20 at approximately 4:00 am (Sana’a time), US Central Command forces carried out air strikes against Houthi anti-ship missiles that were targeting Gulf of Aden in which they were ready to launch.

The statement added: “The US forces decided that the missiles represented a threat to commercial ships and US Navy ships in the region, and then struck and destroyed the missile in self-defense.”
US Central Command noted that this measure “will make international waters safer and more secure for the US Navy and commercial ships.”
