Dr. Aidarous Al-Nakeeb Delivers a Message from the Southern Transitional Council to International Union of Parliaments
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Tbilisi – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Dr. Aidarous Nasr Al-Nakeeb, chairman of foreign affairs department of the southern transitional council, delivered a message from the council’s presidency to heads of parliamentary delegations participating in the fifth round of the International Union of Parliament concerning governmental partnerships, clarity and fighting corruption.
The message was delivered during Dr. Al-Nakeeb’s participation in this round held in Tbilisi – Georgia from July 17th to July 19th, 2018.
The message included detailed explanation of the southern cause and it historic roots starting from southern national resistance till liberation and establishing the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen on the remains of more than 23 Sultanates, Emirates, Sheikhites and minor states. The message also indicated that in 1990, a partnership agreement was declared to establish a union between the south (People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen) and north (Arab Republic of Yemen). The project aimed to establish a civil democratic state on the principles of justice, equity and rights and interests of the two peoples. But nothing of that was achieved and the northern partner denies all agreements and conventions signed between the two countries and the matter escalated till an inclusive and devastating war was declared on the south till the north occupied the south with military force in 1994.
Since then, the south is suffering from a tragic de facto of occupation and its devastating outcomes due to practices and policies imposed by occupation force on our people through outnumbering us and under severe threats to anything that is southern. Furthermore, the religious institution, in coalition with tribal-military regimen of the north, issued a religious “Fatwa” called “Fatwa of War of Conversion and Separation” by Abd Al-Wahab Al-Dulimi, minister of religious affairs and the well-known Jihadist and extremist. According to this “Fatwa”, southern citizens were considered blasphemes and to turn the war into a religious duty for northern citizens. Therefore, the whole south was systematically robbed and his fortunes and capabilities were considered as booty. In addition, southern lands were distributed as booty for lords of war and tribal, military and religious influential. Each meter of our southern lands was robbed to the degree that some of them seized areas that equal the area of Qatar.
The message also indicated that 2015 war led to a new southern reality that should never be ignored or disregarded as it represented the ability of southern people to resist and liberate their own lands in addition to protecting their gains with their patriotic sacrifices. It also proved the southern people’s capability to run liberated areas and restore security and stability through fighting terrorism and extremism. The war also proved that we can formulate our national political project that expresses the southern will and expectations of freedom, independence and restoring and reestablishing our national state on the whole soil of the south from Al-Mehra to Bab Al-Mandeb. This was crowned by the declaration of the southern transitional council, established on May 4th, 2017, to represent the will and expectations of all sectors of the southern society without discrimination, exclusion or marginalization. This reflected the southern people’s solidarity around our liberation project.
The message indicated that any efforts to solve Yemeni crisis that don’t consider seriously the facts on the ground, in the north and the south as well, or don’t consider the real causes and roots of the Union crisis between the north and south, or even try to find temporary or partial solutions imposed at the expense of the southern rights, expectations and rightful goals of liberation and independence will fail and may lead to catastrophic results that will never achieve security or stability, neither in the south nor in the north and not even in the whole region. Such efforts may only recycle the causes of war and conflicts and feed chaos and terrorism to become even more violent.
The message indicated a group of facts as follows:
1. According to facts and evidences, it is natural that the southern people rises to resist this reality imposed by military force. Resistance took many forms starting with peaceful struggle, civil protists, political expression and public movement to advocate our robbed rights and keep our cause alive in the awareness of our youth since the day of occupation on July 7th, 1994. The revolution of the southern peaceful movement headed the way and sacrificed thousands of martyrs and injured till the southern transitional council was declared as an expression of our struggle. The council represents the southern people and advocates its rightful cause and legitimate goals to restore our sovereign state.
2. The south today is not the south before 2015. A new reality was formed indicating the southern people’s capability to liberate their lands, run their areas and establish their military, security and administrative organizations. The international society should recognize this reality and not to discard it.
3. Yemeni Union ended and doesn’t exists anymore for the southern people. To maintain good relations between the northern and southern people and guarantee their mutual interests through establishing security, stability and social peace, everything should return to before May 22nd, 1990 and disengagement should take place.
4. The southern people’s right in freedom, dignity, self-determination and restoring its independent state on its internationally recognized borders according to Declaration of Independence issued on November 30th, 1967, is a legitimate right recognized by all international laws and conventions. It is a right that can never be compromised, ignored or given up.
5. What is happening today in Aden and the whole south is a try to create chaos, security disturbance, terrorist acts, assassinations and hindering reconstruction and restoration of normal life. This try, in a large part of it, is the responsibility of influential persons in the legitimacy government and other northern powers loyal to the former regimen in the north. These parties use their influence over the government to keep their interests in the south as a cover to facilitate and finance more terrorist acts.
6. Undoubtedly, the south is proved to be a major active partner with the international society in fighting terrorism and securing international interests and naval paths in this vital corner of the world.
7. The southern people and resistance are major active partners with the Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and UAE, in achieving the goals of “Storm of Determination” and “Hope Restoration” in full and to defeat the Expansive Iranian project in the region.
The message was delivered in Arabic and in English to let the whole world listen to the voice of the south through their parliaments and NGOs participating in this round.
