Member of Southern National Assembly Participates in the 28th Round of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Geneva – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Dr. Anwar Effendi Al-Merkashy, member of the national assembly of the southern transitional council, participated in the events of the 38th round of UN Human Rights Council – Geneva on Monday July 2nd, 2018 as he delivered a speech.
In his speech, Al-Merkashy assertes the self-determination right for all nations under foreign occupation according to the second article of Vienna Declaration and framework and UN Human Rights convention. He indicated that the southern people are suffering severe occupation imposed by northern authorities of Yemen since 1994 war when the south withdrew from the union agreement as the northern party violated it. And finally, the southern people found his way through forming the southern transitional council and delegating the council to pursuit the reconstruction of the southern independent sovereign state.
Accordingly, the council communicated with UN Security Council and all its members in addition to other international organizations including (OIPMA) to support its mission according to governing rules of international law and the above-mentioned articles of Vienna declaration and framework. Therefore, the council urges the UN Human Rights Council to take all international effective measures to grant the right of the southern people in self-determination.
