President of the Southern Transitional Council Meets UN Envoy in Amman – Jordan
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Amman – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] General Aidarous Kassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, met Mr. Martin Griffith, UN Envoy to Yemen, at the UN office in Amman – Jordan, to discuss peace efforts.
The council recognized good attitude and openness of UN Envoy towards the southern cause and his eagerness to reach a fair solution to it.
The council appreciated Mr. Griffith’s directions towards involving the council in peace talks and negotiations that may discuss the southern cause under the umbrella of UN.
Al-Zubaidi expressed his preliminary unconditioned agreement to participate in upcoming negotiations to reach a framework for new rounds of negotiations.
Through discussion and sharing of thoughts with UN envoy and his office, the council asserted his complete readiness to continue talks with all national southern powers that believe in the southern cause.
Both parties agreed upon a second meeting next September to discuss developments and to cooperate in elaborating ideas about suggested solutions.
General Ahmed Ben Brik, chairman of the national assembly, Ahmed Lamlas, secretary general of the council, Eng. Adnan Al-Kaf, member of Negotiations Unit, Dr. Abd Al-Nasser Al-Waly, chairman of local leadership of the council in Aden, and Mohamed Al-Ghaithi, vice chairman of foreign affairs department, attended the meeting.
