STC Representative in the United Kingdom: London Demonstration Sends Clear Message, South Arabia Is a Partner in Maritime and Energy Security.

SMA NEWS – LONDON

A large demonstration was held in central London on Saturday, organized by members of the South Arabian diaspora in the United Kingdom outside the British government headquarters in Downing Street. Participants voiced support for recent Southern forces’ actions in Hadramout and Al-Mahra and called for a more effective international role in protecting stability and security in the region, according to sources who spoke to Aden Al-Ghad newspaper.

Protesters waved South Arabian flags and carried banners urging recognition of the emerging political and security realities on the ground. They stressed that establishing a stable and capable state in the South has become essential to safeguarding regional and international interests, particularly those linked to maritime trade and energy routes through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. The demonstration drew the participation of activists and South Arabian political figures residing in the UK, alongside media coverage from Arab and international outlets.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the demonstration, Mohammed Al-Sahami, the Southern Transitional Council’s representative in the United Kingdom, said the recent security deployments by Southern forces responded to repeated demands from local communities in Hadramout and Al-Mahra. He added that these actions fall within the political mandate held by the STC inside Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, aiming to address the security vacuum, secure borders, and protect trade and energy flows.

Al-Sahami affirmed the STC’s commitment to working within the legitimate institutional framework and through regional and international partnerships. He noted that confronting Houthi threats, extremist organizations, and arms-smuggling networks, as well as securing international shipping lanes, is a shared responsibility where South Arabia’s interests intersect with those of the international community.

He called on the British government and the wider international community to take practical steps recognizing the South Arabian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, arguing that such recognition would strengthen regional security and help contain one of the most destabilizing flashpoints threatening global energy and trade routes.
