[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – UN – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] On Friday September 20th, 2018, the Southern Center for Rights and Freedoms held a seminar on the sidelines of the 39th round of UN Human Rights Council. The seminar was attended by a large number of representatives of international human rights organizations and dealt with deteriorated living conditions of southern citizens.
Judge Abd Al-Rahman Al-Musaibeli, chairman of the center, indicated that these deteriorations result from the failure of Yemeni government in assuming its constitutional responsibilities and commitments towards citizens. He indicated that citizens’ peaceful demonstrations are consistent with the right of free expression according to the international law.
Al-Musaibeli indicated that he is optimistic about future steps taken by president Hady towards responding to public demands including dismissal of this government and improving living conditions through providing electricity, health care and social services in addition to enabling southern citizens to run their own national organizations to overcome this suffering in the south.
Chairman of the International Organization for Natural Human Rights indicated the serious effects of denying citizens their political rights and impoverishing their daily living conditions as this denial is a serious violation of human rights and makes those who exercise it legally and constitutionally liable.
Ambassador Ali Al-Buhairi asserted the close links between political and economic paths in public life in the south. The southern right of restoring the free independent state is parallel with dignified living conditions. He indicated that the southern cause recently chose the southern transitional council as a political representative of the cause.
A documentary showing southern demonstrators demanding the overthrowing the corrupt government was presented in addition to distributing a lawmaker report about Al-Houthi crimes in the south with a leaflet in English and Arabic about the southern transitional council.
