UN Envoy Fails to Pass Houthi Demands about Al-Hodeida to Hady and Arab Coalition
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Abd Rabu Mansour Hady, president of Yemen, rejected the presence of any armed Houthi in Hodeida and the whole governorate, according to Houthi offer carried by Martin Griffith, UN envoy to Yemen. The offer was mere maneuver by Al-Houthi to buy some time after a series of defeats in the west coast.
Close sources to Griffith indicated that he delivered an offer of Al-Houthi to president Hady during their meeting in Aden on Wednesday June 27th, 2018. The offer indicated that Al-Houthis may agree on UN supervision over Al-Hodeida seaport on condition that their armed militants remain inside Al-Hodeida.
The same sources indicated that president Hady confirmed to Griffith his complete rejection of the presence of any armed militant of Al-Houthi Iranian militias in Al-Hodeida seaport or the whole governorate.
This came along the advance of joint Yemeni troops in the west coast front towards Al-Hodeida as this indicates the near liberation of the city and seaport used by Al-Houthis to receive Iranian weapons in support of their terrorist activities.
