Warning Against Such A step, Al-Azhar: US Recognition of Jerusalem as a Capital of Israel Compromises World Peace

In the statement Al-Azhar indicated that according to shared news in media agencies about the US intention to recognize Jerusalem as a capital we warn against such a provocative act. Any declaration of this kind will provoke anger in all Muslims and compromises world peace as it increases stress and hatred all over the world. Al-Azhar indicated that this inacceptable bias to the Zionist entity and hindering UN decisions to deter it aggression and crimes encouraged the Zionist entity to go forth in its criminal policies against humans, lands and sacred places of occupied Palestine. This led peoples all over the world to lose their confidence and trust in the international society’s integrity and turns to be one of the major causes of international terrorism. The Arabic and Palestinian identity of Jerusalem is unnegotiable and UN conventions oblige Israel not to change current situations and don’t recognize any procedures violating that. Al-Azhar called for wise men all over the world and international organizations, including UN and its general assembly to stand against this issue as it compromises world peace and security. He also called for Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate efforts to prevent such decision. Al-Azhar statement came in response to US officials who indicated Trump’s intention to recognize Jerusalem as a capital of Israel in his upcoming speech on Wednesday, according to Associated Press.
