Washington threatens Houthi militia with decisive response if it resumes attacks in the Red Sea

SMA NEWS – WASHINGTON
The United States warned the Houthi militia of the repercussions of resuming its attacks on international navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, following threats issued by the gang’s leader.
Dorothy Shea, Acting US Representative to the United Nations, confirmed that the Houthis are running their areas of control in a gang-like manner, stressing during the last meeting of the UN Security Council on Yemen that Washington will take decisive measures against the gang if it returns to targeting ships.
She also stressed that her country will seek to undermine the capabilities of the Houthis, considering them a terrorist organization that threatens regional stability and international maritime corridors.
The leader of the Houthi militia, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, renewed his threats to resume attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, citing support for the Gaza Strip. However, observers considered his statements an attempt to raise the morale of his group after the severe blow the gang received following its reclassification as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States.
