President Al-Zubaidi meets Chairman of International Affairs Committee of Russian Parliament “Duma”

The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, and his accompanying delegation in their official visit to the Russian Federation in the third consecutive day, visited the building of the Russian Parliament “Duma”.
During the visit, President Al-Zubaidi and his accompanying delegation held a meeting with the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma, Dr. Leonid Slutsky, and officials of the Council.
At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Leonid Slutsky welcomed President Aidorus Qasim Al-Zubaidi and his accompanying delegation, stressing the Russian Federation’s interest on the situation and developments in the South, Yemen, and the region in general, expressing the support of the Russian government’s position for comprehensive peace process that accommodates all issues, and at its forefront is the issue of the people of the South.
For his part, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Russian Parliament for the warm reception and hospitality, stressing that this indicates the depth of the historical and deep-rooted relations that bind our two friendly peoples.
President Al-Zubaidi indicated that the Southern Transitional Council relies heavily on a pivotal and effective role for the Russian side in pushing for a comprehensive peace process that meets the aspirations of our southern people and contributes to establishing security and peace in the south, Yemen and the region.
President Al-Zubaidi emphasized that the Southern Transitional Council supports the constructive dialogue approach to reach peaceful solutions to political issues and reject the language of violence and terrorism in all its forms and types.
During the meeting, positive and fruitful discussions took place, as views and positions on the files and issues of concern coincided, as also gifts were exchanged between the two sides and memorial photos were taken.
In the same context, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi and members of his accompanying delegation visited the Russian Institute for Oriental studies, where they met with the chief Russian scholar, Dr. Vitaly Naamkin, and an elite of scholars, experts and orientalists of the Russian Federation.
In the meetings, many local and regional issues were discussed and views exchanged regarding the issue of the people of the South and their aspirations, as well as ways to exchange experiences and strengthen relations in various scientific and research fields between institutions and research centers in the South and the Russian Federation.
On the sidelines of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi honored a number of Russian experts, scientists and researchers who worked in the past in the South, and contributed to the development of state institutions at that time.
