A workshop on enhancing access to foreign markets for Yemeni coffee, honey, and onions is held in Aden

In partnership with the Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Trade, a workshop titled “Enhancing Access to Foreign Markets for Yemeni Products (Coffee, Honey, Onions)” was held in Aden the capital as part of the Market Access Readiness Project (MARKETS).
The workshop aimed to train 50 participants representing relevant ministries and authorities to analyze the most prominent obstacles, propose solutions, and develop an initial action plan for the necessary remedies to boost Yemeni exports.
The workshop was organized by the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDA) in partnership and coordination with the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, and with support from the Islamic Development Bank and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen with attendance of the Chamber of Commerce in Aaden.
The workshop also aimed to enhance Yemeni exports by analyzing the business environment (opportunities, challenges, and foreign markets), formulating guiding principles, mapping challenges, and unifying the visions and perspectives of stakeholders to develop a Yemeni export development strategy.
The discussions in the workshop tended to identify the most prominent obstacles and challenges facing Yemeni exports, prioritize these obstacles and impact, and propose practical and applicable solutions. It also aims to identify the parties responsible for implementing each solution and develop a preliminary action plan for the required solutions. The workshop included the presentation of several working papers, with participation from the Ministries of Industry, Trade, Agriculture, and Irrigation, the Standards and Metrology Organizations, the Ports of the Gulf of Aden, the Customs Authority, the Aden Chamber of Commerce, and academic experts.
