SMA News – Syria

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides in Syria Alexander Grinkevich announced that the center “received new information concerning terrorist groups’ plans to accuse the Syrian government forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces of launching artillery and airstrikes on civilian centers within territories under the control of illegal armed factions in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.”

He added that “militants are planning to target civilian infrastructure sites in the village of Nahla with a drone, then publish videos of the attack on the Internet and accuse the Syrian government forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces.”

Grinkevich pointed out, from his Khmeimim Air Base in Lattakia, that their “information indicates militants from terrorist organizations plan to carry out a shelling attack near a settlement in the Idlib province, using mortars and multiple-launch rocket systems.”

Opposition activists claim the accusations from Damascus and Moscow are intended to pave the way for a military escalation in Idlib.
