Mothers of Abductees: 979 abductees and disappeared in Houthi prisons

SMA NEWS – SANA’A
The Yemeni Association of Mothers of Abductees reported that there are 815 abductees and 164 forcibly disappeared in prisons distributed across the country’s governorates, and more so in Houthi areas, amid shameful international silence and inability to achieve justice for these victims and their families.
The civil rights organization expressed, in a statement, its condemnation of the continued abductions and enforced disappearances of innocent civilians, including human rights activists and women, without any legal justification or legitimate justification.
The association denounced the gross violations of human rights, which constitute a flagrant violation of national and international laws, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The statement stressed that the continued detention of dozens of women without legal justification is a double crime that violates the values of our society and our human traditions, as well as international conventions that criminalize violence against women and the violation of their rights.
It also denounced the international disregard and silence regarding the file of the abductees without a radical and decisive solution, and the attempt to politicize this humanitarian file, which, when resolved, will establish the foundations of peace in Yemen.
He added: “We, in the Association of Mothers of Abductees, demand the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, and we hold the Houthi group in the first place and all violating parties fully responsible for their lives and safety.”
The mothers of the abductees called on the UN envoy and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to seek and pressure to move the file of the abductees internationally, ensure accountability for the violators, and oblige the violating parties to implement international agreements and resolutions related to their release and redress for them and their families.
She also stressed the need to stop violations against women and human rights activists, and to ensure that those responsible for these crimes that threaten the dignity of Yemeni women are held accountable. She renewed the continuation of the human rights struggle until freedom is achieved for every kidnapped, detained and forcibly disappeared person, and the prisons are cleared and dignity is restored to every victim of kidnapping, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance.
