Prisoner Exchange between Yemeni Government and Houthis Gains Arab Acclaim

The prisoner exchange announced on Friday between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has been praised by Arab nations.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the prisoner swap on Saturday, calling it a positive and significant step towards renewing the Yemeni truce and achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace. The statement also expressed Egypt’s full support for efforts to restore security and stability in Yemen and alleviate the humanitarian crisis that Yemenis are facing.
Similarly, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates praised the important role played by the UN and ICRC in sponsoring the prisoner exchange operations. The ministry also hailed the constructive efforts made by Saudi Arabia and Oman’s delegations, which contributed to reaching this agreement.
The Arab Parliament also welcomed the prisoner exchange operation in Yemen, commending the efforts made by Saudi Arabia and Oman to reach this agreement. The Parliament stressed that these efforts were part of the Arab’s continuous efforts to calm the situation in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution that ends the Yemeni crisis.
The Secretariat General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also welcomed the start of the prisoner exchange between the two sides. The OIC Secretary-General praised this important humanitarian operation, which took place during the holy month of Ramadan, and expressed hope that it would give a new boost to the efforts of achieving peace in Yemen. Taha also hailed the efforts exerted by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and the ICRC and praised the mediation efforts made by Saudi Arabia and Oman.
