SMA NEWS – RIYADH
The Arab coalition said Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone launched toward Khamis Mushayt on Thursday, hours after destroying another.
The coalition said it was taking operational measures to protect civilians from such attacks, state news agency SPA reported.
The Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen have stepped up attacks targeting populated areas and oil installations in the Kingdom since the beginning of the year, drawing international condemnation.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the latest attempt by the Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in Khamis Mushayt, in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen renewed his call on the international community to take firm stances to stop the continued threats with ballistic missiles and explosive-laden aircraft by the Houthi militia directed at populated areas.
The UAE also denounced the attack and urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated actions targeting vital and civil facilities, the security of the Kingdom, energy supplies and global economic stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also renewed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to preserve its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.
