The first crown prince in the modern history of the Sultanate of Oman

Dhi Yazan bin Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, became the first crown prince in the modern history of the Sultanate of Oman, after it was decided, according to the modified system of government, that the mandate of the Covenant would be transferred to the eldest son of the male Sultan, as published in the Omani Official Gazette today, Tuesday.
The Royal Decree to create the position of the Crown Prince in the Sultanate stipulates that the system of government is hereditary in males, and the rule of government is transferred from the Sultan to his oldest son, then the eldest son of this son, and so on layer by class.
Dhi Yazan (31 years) is currently the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, since his appointment in the first government formed by his father upon assuming the reins of power in the Sultanate of Oman last year.
Sultan Haitham has two sons, Dhi Yazan and Belarab, in addition to two daughters, Soraya and Umayma, from his wife Ahed Bint Abdullah.
Omanis circulated the name Dhi Yazan when his father was appointed as an influential youth figure in the Omani scene, known for his interest in youth, and he was a sponsor of the Omani Youth Day party in October 2019, organized by the “National Youth Committee”, and he was a sponsor of the Sultan’s Football Cup in the same month of the same year.
on Monday, Sultan Haitham issued a royal decree according to which he would form a new basic system of government in the Sultanate of Oman, ensuring a stable system and transition of government, by appointing a crown prince for the first time in the modern history of the Sultanate.
The new system will serve as a constitution for government in the Sultanate, and this comes to coincide with the first anniversary of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s succession to Sultan Qaboos.
