UK announces new aid of $205 million to support Yemeni women and children

SMA NEWS – LONDON
The UK Foreign Affairs Office on Friday announced a new $205 million humanitarian aid program to provide healthcare for women and children affected by the war in Yemen.

In a statement, the UK Foreign Affairs said: The four-year aid program provides health care for about one million children and women annually, providing nutrition, clean drinking water, sanitation, women’s health services and childbirth, in addition to providing protection against violence.

The statement quoted British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly as saying, “The crisis in Yemen continues to cause suffering to millions of Yemenis, while women and children in particular pay a heavy price.” “The UK remains committed to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the (Yemen Women and Children Programme) will provide vital support to those most affected,” he added.
