Yemen gov’t says Houthis prevented aid ship unloading goods

The Yemeni government said that the Houthis prevented a United Nations aid ship from unloading its cargo at the Al Hudaydah port.
In a statement the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, explained that the Houthis prevented the World Food Program (WFP) ship Gloris C, which has 12,500 tonnes of wheat on board, from disembarking and forced it to leave the port.
The minister considered the incident an extension of the militia’s approach to hinder humanitarian relief operations and the work of international organisations in their areas of control.
The Yemeni official explained that this action confirms “the policy of impoverishment and starvation employed by the Houthi terrorist militia, and its insensitivity to the humanitarian tragedy and collapsing living conditions of millions of poor people living in the areas under its control, in addition to exploiting their tragic situation as a political and media bargaining chip to blackmail and mislead the international community.”
Al-Eryani called on the international community to condemn these criminal practices, take deterrent measures to exert pressure on the Houthi terrorist militia, ensure that aid reaches millions of starving people in the areas under the movement’s control and stop what he described as Houthi efforts to turn the humanitarian situation into a bargaining chip for political and material gains.
