Do the southern people demand a southern representation in negotiations or do they demand a representation of the southern cause in negotiations?
In other words, is a matter of southern figures, regardless their political projects about the southern cause, existing on the negotiation table?
Formal southern representation in Yemeni peace negotiations will not satisfy the southern people’s desire. Southern citizens are now divided into two political projects. The first project concentrates on self-determination and restoration of the southern state. the southern transitional council is a major axis of this project but is not the sole sponsor of it. On the other hand, the second project is the project of regions and authority sponsored by president Hady and a group of his consultants and ministers in addition to the Southern National Coalition, formed a few months ago and supported by Hady.
Southern people demand a real representation of their southern cause according to its real political project, that is self-determination and restoration of the southern state. this does not deny the right of the other project to be represented according to its real size in the southern street.
Any try to ignore the southern cause through expelling the project of restoring the southern state from Yemeni Peace Negotiations or through representing the south by individuals who only represent themselves or the project of regions, will fail. Southern people don’t need southern representation. Instead, they want real representation of their right in self-determination and restoration of the southern state.
