On June 8th, 2015, Wajdi Ahmed Hasan Al-Sunidi fell as a hero martyr in the battel of dignity to liberate the southern soil from Yemeni Occupation militias in “Akamat Salah” – Al-Dalia. Today is the third anniversary of his martyrdom.
Wajdi Ahmed Hasan Al-Sunidi was born in 1982 in Amsdara – Serar – Abian. He went to Ansdara primary school then to Serar secondary school in Yafea. He was member of an ideal family known with its courage, generosity and good manners. Because of hard living conditions, he traveled to Saudi Arabia to earn his living in dignity like thousand like him who suffered from hostile policies of the occupation regimen.
With the break-up of the southern movement in 2007, he returned home to participate in the revolution and played a major role in mobilizing youth and crowds towards Adan. He was one of the first to attend all festivals and million marches in addition to his prominent efforts in defending the public against Central Security assaults.
After Sanaa regimen surrendered Abian to Al-Qaeda in 2011, he was one of the first who volunteered in the southern resistance and public defense commissions to fight the terrorist organization. He played a major role in urging youth to carry their weapons and fight back Al-Qaeda. For his courage, he was chosen as field commander of public defense commissions in Serar and continued his courageous efforts till he and his companions cleared Abian of Ansar Al-Sharia elements.
At the beginning of 2015 war, he was among first row warriors who broke into Central Security Camp in Adan that was under commandership of Al=Sakkaf. After clearing the camp, he moved back to Abian to protect it from Al-Houthi attacks in Hisn Shaddad. He was commander of fire line battalion and fought brave battels. But because of some conflicts inside the resistance in Abian that hindered the resistance works, he headed to Al-Dalia that was under fierce fights and suffocating siege. He was convinced that the honor of fight and martyrdom is where you head to victor your brothers in this small city that was under deadly siege and hysterical bombard that left thousands of families homeless in fear. In Al-Dalia, he was received as a resistance hero. He was welcomed among his companions of struggle and united fate.
Ali Gargour, the hero commander, enlisted Al-Sunidi among his troops as Gagour was commander of Central Security, Al-Safra and Akamat Saleh fronts. The martyr fought fierce battels against the occupation army and presidential guards as he and his companions caused the enemy severe loses that led them retreat leaving several posts and fronts. For his bravery, loyalty and cunningness, he held a high rank among resistance troops as he was considered the right arm of Ali Gargour.
On Monday June 8th, 2015 as 01:00 PM, Akamat Saleh witnessed one of the strongest and bravest attack launched by Ali Gargour’s battalion and his companion Wajdy Al-Sunidi who launched a sudden attack on Akamat Saleh’s school where 60 soldiers and officers of the enemy were stationed in and beside the school. The enemy did not expect that sudden attack as heroes of the resistance broke into the school fences under commandership of Ali Gargour and Wajdy Al-Sunidi. In a few minutes they reached the classrooms where enemy soldiers were hiding and started to clear them off. Wajdy managed to reach the roof and killed more than 15 soldiers alone from behind the fence by throwing grenades over them and use all the ammunition in his machine gun along with tow of his companions. This legendary battel was the fiercest and bravest of all in Al-Dalia. For more than one and half hours, resistance heroes fought face to face with the enemy and killed more than 40 enemy soldiers. One of the surviving enemy officers said “we were fighting demons and ghosts whose bravery and guts enabled them to reach our hiding places and kill 40 of our soldiers”.
In this legendary battel, three martyrs fell and one of them was Wajdy Al-Sunidi. This makes the day of his martyrdom on June 8th a historic day of glory. Hail to the martyr hero, commander Wajdy Al-Sunidi.
