Reactions to Al-Zubaidi’s Delegation
After its extraordinary meeting, the southern national assembly issued an inclusive statement expressing the southern vision based on restoring and independence of the southern state. Before I read the statement issued at the end of the extraordinary round, I received several opinions summarizing the meeting in one point, that is delegating president Aidarous Kassem Al-Zubaidi, president of the southern transitional council, to represent the south in any regional or international upcoming negotiations or talks. The tune of sarcasm was clear in these opinions according to the principle of not delegating a delegate. This opinion is based on the fact that the southern people have already delegated the southern transitional council who gained his legitimacy from the delegations of the two million marches. But actually, this is not accurate.
The southern national assembly represent an establishment parliament of the southern state that was formed by the same society that once delegated the southern transitional council as a political representative of the southern people. There are now ongoing international arrangements to find a solution to the Yemeni crisis and stop the war, including dates of meeting in Geneva. Therefore, a clear southern message should be delivered to Martin Griffith, UN envoy to Yemen, and all regional parties that the southern cause can never be jumped over and all southern organizations chose General Al-Zubaidi as their representative. This is a rightful legal step that should be taken to talk on behalf of the south.
According to arrangements and requirements, this was a marvelous step and a clear message to the regional and international societies. This civilized diplomatic message of the national assembly was sent in time. I think there is no harm in such a step. On the contrary, it came in time. To general Al-Zubaidi I say go on confidently in your determined path towards liberating the south and restoring your state, regardless those who may or may not agree. This is your right. So, take it and don’t wait any one to grant it to you.
