The southerners who announced a boycott of the South-South dialogue called for by the Southern Transitional Council, arguing that the council is supported by a state that “is the reason for the destruction of Yemen” (as stated in the statements of some of these components and personalities). These brothers know that their argument flimsy.”
The invalidity of the boycotters’ arguments are represented in the following:
First: There is no political force in Yemen, small or large, except that it receives some support from a foreign country, including the legitimate president, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Secondly: The United Arab Emirates (which is what is meant by these brothers’ speech) is not the one who destroyed Yemen, but rather the Houthi alliance that put the country under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, and what remains are only details.
Third: I had mentioned in a previous post that it is the right of every component, political party, or national or social figure in the South to refuse to participate in the dialogue, even if the reasons behind this position do not appear, and not necessarily the arguments with reasons and justifications that the brothers know are not valid.
Fourth: The absence of this person or that and this party or that from the dialogue table is not without a price, and the biggest losers in this situation are those who reject the dialogue themselves.
And finally: In view of my trust in the fellow members of the Dialogue Committee who are assigned by the leadership of the Transitional Council, by virtue of working together for years, and the skill, political, diplomatic and academic knowledge of these colleagues, and a high patriotic spirit, I hope that the Dialogue Committee will succeed in its venerable mission, whether with the approval or rejection of some of the invitees to the dialogue.
