To Be or Not To be… That is the Question to Us as Southern

Abdul-Karem Ahmed Saeed

There is no doubt that an old/new conspiracy is being planned against the southern people to exhaust his project of restoring the southern state. the new conspiracy is planned and supported by several vicious and envious powers who don’t care about the rightful demand of the southern people to gain self-determination. They only care for their interests even at the expense of the southern people who sacrificed thousands of martyrs and injured for freedom and disengagement with Arab Republic of Yemen. This mighty southern people stood against the military and security troops of Al-Houthis and regular brigades of Yemeni army who invaded Aden and other southern governorates with their full arms.
This legendary stand of the southern resistance against the invading troops led to the defeat of invaders and expelling them from the south by the public will and gallantry of southern resistance. This victory is achieved by southern faith in their rightful cause and their persistence to gain freedom, in addition to logistic support provided by the Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and UAE who quickly recognized the danger of Iranian project in the region and Iran’s pursuit to control international navigation paths in the Red Sea (Gulf of Aden and Bab Al-Mandeb Strait).
Unfortunately, the south is still suffering in spit of major sacrifices to achieve such victories. Without such victories, Yemeni legitimacy would never have a place in Aden. The same legitimacy returned this favor by mass punishment and unethical psychological warfare. This is reflected on all southern citizens who are denied their rightful necessary services (water – electricity – health care – education – salaries) just to make them suffer even more, in addition to disturbed security in Aden through assassinations and terrorist blasts fed by external and internal powers.
This conspiracy is still ongoing against the southern cause although the southern people sacrificed a lot and still sacrificing even more with the Arab Coalition in all Yemeni battel fields. In fact, the southern resistance is now the major taskforce against the Iranian project in the region. But some allies still flattering the Yemeni legitimacy and its leaders, who are either Muslim Brotherhood or remains of Saleh’s region, at the expense of legitimate rights of the southern people. Therefore, the southern transitional council and all other political and social powers of the south, should clarify the situation to the Arab Coalition and the International Society to stop this political miss, away from maneuvering and cheating. Actually, we ran out of patience. This means that the council’s leadership should:
1. Support public peaceful expression of anger towards this tragic situation in the south in addition to letting the southern movement and youth of southern resistance to exercise some pressure over the legitimacy and Arab Coalition to respond to their rightful demands through open sit-ins and public strikes according to an escalation plan.
2. Direct southern security systems, military troops, security belt troops and elites’ troops of Hadhramaut and Shabwa to protect citizens during peaceful demonstrations.
3. Activate the role of council leaderships in directorates and governorates in leading the public so that demonstrations remain peaceful and not to allow any element of the fifth column to drive them elsewhere.
4. Continue talks with all southern political powers to reach a unified position towards the clear target to which martyrs sacrificed their lives.
5. Form a southern negotiation team including efficient politicians, intellects, legal consultants, economists… etc.
6. Improve combat readiness of all military and security units of the south and halt sending more troops to Yemeni battel fields in addition to summoning combat troops in these fronts to return to the south and liberate all territories under Yemeni occupation like Mukiras, Bihan and Hadhramaut valley.
7. Summon general Haitham Kassem Taher to return to Aden and become the first military consultant for the southern resistance because of his military and security charisma and to be close to decision-making positions.
8. Form a joint military and security command and control room under commandership of southern resistance and directions of the southern transitional council.
The south is passing through a critical stage of his history and should take determinant and well-established strategic decisions as we are facing a real challenge to be or not to be.
Some are trying to make the southern leadership afraid of regional and international complications of this stage, claiming that it is difficult to gain an international recognition of the new southern state in case of one-sided declaration. They are trying to describe this act as “too risky” but this is not accurate. The southern need to impose a de facto situation on the ground through controlling al joints of the state and improving defensive capabilities and building military, security and civilian organizations on national and scientific bases.
The southern people have very strong cards and if they manage to use it well the whole world and the region will treat them according to what they have of power and logic. It is more than enough if the southern control oil fields and international paths that represent a major security concern amid the international economic interests’ conflict in the region.
