Ministry of Oil ‘explains” its decisions under the following title: “Ministry of Oil and Minerals Explains about Junk Oil Tankers”. The ministry started with “formally” unquestionable justifications as it talked about the ship life span that may reach 25 years in some countries. Of course, rules and legislations were set to identify the ship life span or working period to limit the catastrophes that may arise. Justifications of the ministry concerning quick disposal are correct but is the goal to dispose these ships and replace them? Is there any thing else? Or does it come as part of a privatization plan for public facilities to legitimize its robbery? Would that be the door to turn all public gains into “junk” and Aden Refinery becomes junk as the country became junk and even citizens became junk? Then, everything becomes for sale!!
The truth appears in the explanation of the “Oil and Minerals Company” as the “for sale” ships came as follows although their life spans vary:
Qana (1978) – Bab Aden (1984) – Al-Musila (1982) – Radif Qana (1992) – Al-Tag Al-Code (1985) – Al-Tag Al-Ghadeer (1985).
Accordingly, the purpose is to dispose all these ships, regardless their life spans. In other words, the selling is “in packs”!! here comes another question. Will these ships be allowed to work in our ports after being sold? These questions are for the ministry of oil and minerals.
Concerning the duration, our country is in the middle of a severe oil crisis. This means that this procedure is irreplaceable or the crisis will increase. What are our alternatives Mr. minister of oil? How will these “Junk” tankers will be disposed? And according to what procedures? The ministry didn’t say a word about that and only said that it will be done according to rules. What rules do they intend while the parliament didn’t hold a single session for years and the only legal thing now is “war”?
Our fears are clear in that these ships may be sold to Al-Houthis who will turn it into drones, ballistic missiles or naval torpedoes with the presence of Iranian experts among them. or even, they may be sold to some influential who may let them work in our ports and one of these “Junk” ships may sink causing an ecological catastrophe.
We don’t trust a government accused, and even has a world rank, of corruption. We fear that the deal may be done with bribery in the absence of any monitoring systems. We need answers as we are the people. It is not your right to manipulate public money under such circumstance while trustful references are lacking.
